Safe Surfing

There are a lot of fun things to do on the web, but you need to be careful. Here's some things to remember:

Never give out your full name, address, or phone number without your parent's permission.
Don't enter contests without asking your parents first.
Check with your parents before downloading programs to your computer.
If someone sends you something abusive or that makes you uncomfortable, let your parents know.
Never agree to meet someone you've met on the net without your parent's permission.

      This web is an example of a fun site aimed at young children from preschool through grade five which has been developed by Web Foundations of Calgary. All links are to recommended and approved safe web sites. We hope your children enjoy them.

      All webs need to have content which brings users back again and again. An add-on such as the "Just for kids" web would not be appropriate for every web. However, organizations which hope to appeal to a wide audience, or to a more specific group such as children, parents, or educators should consider including some lighter content. It would be very appropriate, even in serious corporate webs, to include a children's version of the site, or educational material around the company's products and services.
